QRA Survey

Welcome

Thank you for taking the time to participate in this survey.

Please read the guidance below before answering the questions so that you are aligned on the scope of the survey and the definitions being used.

This survey is about a lightweight Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA) tool aimed at small and medium projects — not the full-scale QRA techniques typically reserved for megaprojects. The intent is to convert cost and schedule ranges plus key risk events into practical, decision-ready outputs such as probability of meeting budget, probability of meeting target date, and confidence-based contingency indications.

For consistency, please use the following working definitions when answering:

  • Small project: Narrow, well-defined scope; limited investment; short duration; small core team; limited stakeholders; low complexity and risk; light oversight.
  • Medium project: Broader scope; moderate investment; moderate duration; multiple teams; several stakeholder groups; moderate complexity, cross-functional impact, and risk; formal governance.

Large / megaprojects are out of scope for this survey and are mentioned only for contrast since they already commonly use full-scale QRA.

Each question asks you to select a single number from 1 to 5. Read all five level descriptions before selecting, and answer based on your current organization and experience, not an idealized best case.

There are no right or wrong answers; the goal is to surface where respondents agree, and where they don't.

In addition to the mandatory questions (indicated with an asterisk *) You also have the option of providing an explanation for your responses.

Q1: Your Current Role

Q2: Adequacy of Current Risk Reporting

To what extent do current qualitative risk reporting methods give decision-makers the insight they need to judge whether a small or medium project will meet its budget and target date?

Rating:*

Q3: Value of Probability-Based Outputs

How valuable would probability-based outputs (such as probability of meeting budget, probability of meeting target date, and confidence-based contingency) be to your project decision-making?

Rating:*

Q4: Barriers to Adoption on Small/Medium Projects

Overall, how significant is the barrier to using quantitative risk analysis on small and medium projects in your organization today?

Rating:*

Q5: Project Manager as Trusted Advisor

How ready are project managers to introduce a lightweight QRA tool into client conversations as part of their advisory role, alongside traditional project reporting?

Rating:*

Q6: Fit with Governance and Decision Points

How well would a lightweight QRA tool fit within your organization's current small and medium project governance and decision points (e.g., gate reviews, funding approvals, baseline decisions)?

Rating:*
