Enhancing skills across the organization in the areas of decision making and risk analysis only makes sense if this is embedded in a proper governance structure. Decision rights must be clear. For the big decisions requiring substantial preparation, an orderly process using stage gates is recommended. Decision-makers must interact regularly with the teams involved in decision preparation. Leaders must understand the language and presentations of the analysts but vice versa analysts should tailor their work towards the needs of the decision-makers.
